I, MrFedorian (could you tell I use fedora?) am excited to announce that the LDWP Collective is officially open to the public from today onwards.
I aim to make this a valuable website for myself and friends, and others who are looking for Linux Wallpapers ripped directly from their respective distros, in the rawest form I can get them in. Content is very much lacking right now, but this is only the beginning. We are already off to a strong start with Zorin being the first to be published on the site.
Personally, I hope in the future I will have a polished, full website featuring all sorts of different distributions' Built-in wallpapers for people to use on their respective Operating Systems if they so wish. Yes, that includes people using Microslop's Windows. Even MacOS users are included as well.
Whatever OS you use, corporate slop or not, I aim to provide the best wallpapers I can give you all. If you have any feedback, or a collection stripped from the OS files, My Discord DMs are open, (cyancordyt) and you can send me it via a Drive link/ZIP Or RAR file directly within the app. Guidelines for what I will/will not accept can be read here.
I, MrFedorian, am proud to announce I have just published the first major update to the site. With this comes many improvements and new features.
First off, I have added a 'Feedback' section for gathering user feedback in an accessible place everyone can visit, though feedback it's self is given via Discord. I will be making an anonymous google form for this soon to simplify this.
I've also added a 'Contributors' section, so I have a place to credit people who, well... Contribute to the site, whether thats providing important and helpful links, or sharing collections and following the guidelines keenly.
Speaking of Guidelines, I have introduced new Sharing guidelines, for anyone who wants to share collections with me, to upload onto the site. I have tried to be as fair as possible to good people wanting to share, and I Know the verification techniques I use sound like over-reach, but I explain more about that on the Sharing Guidelines page. I may sound picky but allowing everything would go against the whole point of this site, being that it is going to host 'raw' files, from the original sources directly.
With this update there has also been a brand new collection added, and that is CachyOS! I Didn't intend on doing this one this early on, but XiaoLing (Owner of KDE's People Democratic Republic on Discord) sent me the link to the official wallpaper repository which you can find on the CachyOS Page, so I really appreciate that!
Other than that, there has been some minor visual upgrades, such as some links being turned into buttons for a cleaner look, and clicking an OS name after a wallpaper name on the banner of a page now takes you to the specified collection.
I hope you all enjoy the new upgrade, and have a great day. Or night. Whatever lol
First, I'd like you to just think about how... much has happened on this site within 2 days of creation. Think about it. Day one, we had minimal features and a single collection. But now we have had many new features, and a whopping 4 new collections already done and published, all with their own pages, among more things I've done to refine this passion project.
Moving onto the main topic, I, MrFedorian himself, am both proud and excited to announce I have claimed the Domain ldwp.org for this site via Cloudflare. With a custom domain fully paid for and connected to the site, and with Cloudflare's protections in place to secure it, this allows me (and us as a community) to reach more people across the internet. I deliberately chose this because it was short, simple and memorable.
I was originally going to use a .XYZ domain, but sadly that one was registered with GoDaddy, and we all know how annoying those are. But luckily I was about to find a .org for my 4 letter wish, which I found surprising, but I took the chance as soon as I saw it. Org is generally quite popular as well, so I can't lie when I say I was surprised it was available for as cheap as it was, under $12, and I only had to pay $7.50 Upfront for the first year.
I had to do a little tinkering on the Cloudflare dashboard to get the root domain to reroute to the 'WWW' thing google has, but I eventually got it sorted out and you can now just type in the root domain, ldwp.org, without having to input the 3 W's at the start, and it will take you to the site as intended.
I must mention though that Cloudflare's protection prevents you from accessing the site with a VPN, which is a double-edged sword for me personally. But I also want to protect my site, so I will be making no moves to disable this anytime soon just so you all know. Besides, this isn't really a site you'd need to use one on, unless you are plain crazy about your privacy. In that case just run the distros yourself.
Hello again, Konquerors. After a while we now, I have something new that I believe counts as a Major Update, and serves as a big benefit for users.
While it doesn't add any particular features, what I have added is something I believe you will all take great value in. That's right, I have made the Website Assets (At least the ones I can gather together and not deleted locally after putting them on) Publicly available to look at, do whatever you want with and Download for yourself.
This includes the all the Collections ZIP files in one place (Though you can get them anyway via their own pages), the Logos used such as MEGA, and the Distro logos, and any picture files used I choose to put on there, including mundane stuff like my Desktop screenshot. And much more in the future. I aim for this to be as transparent and open as possible to the community.
Hello! I would like to announce my new Discord server created in conjunction with this project. Although this site will always be top priority for announcements, I believe it is the best way personally since it is much more flexible, but I will potentially use the discord to post collection links for any new ones such as Aurora, and all that good stuff and also mention if I make a new blog post. See the menu bar for the link to the server.
